Policies and Procedures

Informed Consent

Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you. At your first appointment, you will receive a copy of the massage therapy policies and will be asked to sign the consent form, stating you have read, understand, and agree to the information and comply with the professional massage therapy policies and procedures.

Cancellation and Fees

If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance.

Cancelling with less than a 24 hours’ notice: A fee equal to 75% of the service cost will be charged.

No Shows

Clients who miss their appointments without giving any prior notice will be charged 100% of the scheduled service.

Late Arrival

Please send me a message if you are running late. Late arrivals may be shortened to fit the original time schedule in order for me to stay on schedule for following appointments, 100% of the cost of the massage session will be charged.

Scope of Practice

Licensed massage therapists are authorized to perform manual soft tissue manipulation for therapeutic purposes.

Licensed massage therapists are NOT authorized to diagnose any disease, condition, or injury. In addition, massage therapists are NOT authorized to perform any joint manipulation or medical procedure, such as prescribing medication.

Professional Boundaries

Only professional massage and relaxation or therapeutic bodywork services are offered. Any inappropriate conduct will result in massage termination. This includes harassment, threatening behavior or speech, sexual advances or requests, or disrespectful actions or language.

The session will not be conducted if the client is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

If the massage is terminated for any of these reasons, full payment for the scheduled session will be charged.

Draping Policy

You will be appropriately draped with a sheet at all times during your massage. Only areas currently being treated will be exposed. The breast and genital areas will always remain draped and are never massaged.

Respect for Client Needs and Boundaries

I am happy to adjust the pressure, music volume, work on a specific area, etc. Please communicate your needs with me!

You may choose to keep on as much clothing as needed for comfort, refuse any massage techniques, stop the massage at any time, and are free to leave at any point during your massage session.

Confidentiality and Conversation

You may or may not choose to talk during the massage, any discussion between the client and massage therapist is confidential.

If Currently Pregnant

I do not provide any massage services during the 1st trimester of pregnancy.

During the 2nd trimester, a pregnancy bolster is recommended and may be required.

During the 3rd trimester, a pregnancy bolster will be required.

You will need to fill out a form stating how many weeks along you are.

Existing and New Medical Conditions

It is your responsibility to keep me informed of any new or current medical conditions, medical treatments you are currently undergoing, and to provide any written permission needed from the physician, physical therapist, etc.

If you are undergoing chemo or radiation therapies, please note that I require a doctor’s note stating the doctor is aware of and agrees to the desired massage treatment.
